Each snake has been hand carved and delicately set with a birthstone in the head. For me, the symbol of the serpent is a reminder to face my fears, but for many, it is a sign of transition, fertility and feminine power. The anthropologist Lynn Isbell has argued that, as primates, the serpent - as a symbol of death - is built into our unconscious minds because of our evolutionary history.

These earrings are part of the Inferno Collection and are inspired by ancient depictions of the Goddesses of mythology. The attention given by the sculptor to the form and curve of each bronze or marble body, withstood the elements, surviving today as a reminder of the power held by the Goddesses of ancient times. I created these wearable sculptures to pay homage to that power.
